The Chartered Institute of Housing South East recognises that the work of individuals in the field of housing makes a very significant contribution to the lives of people living in the region. Through the South East Excellence Awards we want to highlight the significant
contribution individual performance can make.
Our aims
Through the Awards, we aim to:
- reward individual effort
- recognise good practice
- promote role models.
Why enter?
The South East Excellence Awards will offer winners and their organisations:

- an enhanced reputation

The categories
Open to nomination
- Student, Member or Fellow
- Lifetime achievement.
Nominations
Nominations for the categories of Student, Member or Fellow may be made by organisations or individuals. Nominees must be working in a housing-related field in the South East.
All nominees must be registered with the Chartered Institute of Housing as a Student member for category 1 or Corporate Member, Fellow or Honorary member for category 2.
Timetable
- Applications open - 1 May 2009
- Application deadline - 30 June 2009
- Shortlisting - July 2009
- Committee decision - 10 September 2009
- Awards ceremony - 2 February 2010.
How to enter
All entries must be made using the application form provided. Applications will need to demonstrate the contribution that individual nominees have made within the region.
Assessment criteria
The Awards will be determined by the South East Committee using the following measures of achievement:
- Work in the South East region
Contribution to housing in the region both through paid and unpaid work. - Personal achievement
Evidence of service delivery / measurable personal performance, innovation, positive outcomes and examples of good practice. - Professionalism
Demonstration of competence, skill, professional relationships that have produced excellent results. - Positive promotion of housing
Examples of how the sector has been positively promoted through the work of the individual. - Endorsements
Up to five endorsements (to be no more than 50 words each) from employers, colleagues, residents, partner agencies or suppliers. Nominations will be assessed against each of the five measures to determine the overall winner in each category. - Assessing the entries
The committee will assess applicants in relation to the criteria. Each entry will be assessed to determine how well the nominee meets each criteria using the following:
- The extent to which the nominee meets the criteria
- The significance of supporting evidence
- The breadth and depth of work undertaken by the nominee
- Winners
Winners will be notified in September 2009 and invited to attend the Awards Ceremony at the House of Commons on 2 February 2010. They will receive a free place at the dinner and a prize. - More information
