The South East Excellence Awards winners
06/07/08
This year the Chartered Institute of Housing South East introduced the South East Excellence Awards to reward individual effort, recognise good practice and promote role models.
Branch chair, Graham Maunders, said, 'We recognise that the work of individuals makes a significant contribution to people's lives in the region. Through these awards, we are able to highlight the substantial difference they can and do make.'
In assessing the award applications, the South East committee considered individuals' work in the region, personal achievement, professionalism, positive promotion of housing and endorsements from employers, colleagues, residents and agencies.
South East Excellence Member Award
Pam Millington
The first award category was the South East Excellence Member Award. The winner was Pam Millington, Neighbourhood Contracts Manager at Stanhope Estate Project who works for Moat Housing Association.
'Pam has shown total commitment, not only to her job but to the local community,' said Graham. 'She has shown great professionalism, working and acting out of the box on the Stanhope Regeneration project in Ashford, Kent. Pam has demonstrated, through her involvement with the local community and statutary agencies, that she clearly has been more than the right person in the right place at the right time.'
South East Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement
The second was the South East Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement. Two winners were recognised through this award for their truly outstanding contribution.
David Turner
David Turner, Chair of Eastbourne Citizens Advice Bureau and committee member of Eastbourne Homes, was the first winner. 'David clearly has a great understanding and affinity to the housing sector and all those impacted by it. He has made a great success of the businesses he helped run in Eastbourne over many years and shown long-term commitment to Citizens Advice.'

The second winner of the South East Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement was Jeremy Adams, Chair of Adams Integra Housing Consultants. 'Jeremy has worked in the housing sector for nearly 50 years, spending more than 30 years working for local authorities. He promoted the idea of older persons' housing, now known as Category 2½ or extra-care sheltered housing. Since moving into the private sector, his company has been successfully advising and assisting on housing in both the public and private sector.'
'Jeremy has always been approachable, well-liked and respected, both personally and professionally. He has shown great commitment to the housing sector through his long-term involvement with the Chartered Institute of Housing South East.
