South East Eye - January 2008
Welcome to our second edition of Regional Eye
We are delighted with the feedback so far - our new ezine format has been very well received. I hope you enjoy reading this second issue.
I would like to highlight two things in particular that we are featuring in this edition: the forthcoming South East Regional Conference and the South East Excellence Awards. Both are significant events for the South East region and I would very much like to encourage you to take part. Apply early to ensure you're not disappointed.

Communities South East - Challenges and Solutions
CIH South East Conference and Exhibition
The Hilton Brighton Metropole
4-6 March 2008
With housing and regeneration at the top of the Government's agenda, housing providers across the South East must now lead the way to deliver more homes and the added value to create sustainable communities.
A regional policy and practice update
Michelle Chivunga, the South East Branch Policy and Practice officer, gives an update of the Branch's policy work over the past year. The main focus of Michelle's work was centred on the private rented sector.
The Branch is actively promoting becoming a Fellow to eligible BME and female members as both are under-represented in this membership grade in the South East. You need to satisfy three criteria to become a Fellow, and the process is very easy and quick to do.
Nominations for the South East Excellence Awards 2008
The Chartered Institute of Housing South East recognises that the
work of individuals in housing makes a very significant
contribution to the lives of people living in the region. Through the
South East Excellence Awards we want to highlight this significant
contribution that individual performance can make.
Graham Maunders announces that Claire Martin, Head of the Supporting People Team at Kent County Council, has taken on the role of Vice-Chair of the CIH South East region.
Help us plan our region's events for the 2008-09 year - if you have any ideas, we would very much like to hear from you. And come along to our new-style AGM on 4 March to have your say.
At last year's CIH South East regional conference, Wayne Hemingway shared his experience of setting up HemingwayDesign and the lessons he learnt along the way. With the new year upon us, it seems timely for us all to be reminded to take some risks and follow what we believe in...
