17 February 2010, 12.30pm-4.00pm
South East Procurement seminar, CIH London office, Grays Inn Road

This half-day event will examine the pitfalls of the procurement process, including the recent changes in the Official Journal of the European Union procurement process (after a contract has been awarded, if there is a successful challenge about the fairness of the process, the contract can be cancelled). We will hear the consultant's side from Tony Newberry at Cyril Sweett plus a client's perspective. A legal session will outline the challenges to contracts and what an organisation need to look out for to ensure it's protected in difficult economic times.

South East Older Person's Conference, Crowne Plaza Hotel Gatwick, Crawley

Where are we now and where to next? The programme will look at new opportunities and challenges facing delegates, and how to deliver high-quality services to increasing numbers of older people with increasingly different needs and aspirations.

We aim to provide a progress update on the outcomes of the Ministerial Review (January 2010) and developments throughout the sector. Interactive workshops will explore the personalisation agenda, assistive technology and social infrastructure. Other workshop topics include changing services from a legal and practitioner's perspective, consultation and engagement, person-centred service delivery and social inclusion. Confirmed speakers include Barbara Thorndick of West Kent Housing Association and Bruce Moore of Hanover Housing Group.
