7. Outgoing Chair's review and the region's charity for 2011-12

In the last two years, CIH South East has gone from strength to strength. The House of Commons event and a number of other events held this year reflect the conference content, and members' aspirations and objectives.

Last year, the the CIH conference team organised the conference. The committee is pleased with the conference so far and are very happy with the work of the CIH conference team. The South East conference has now become a major event in many people's diaries and the conference planning group still try to keep it a local event.

The Practitioners Conference was a great success and will be repeated next year. Calford Seadon's golf day was a wonderful day and a great charity fundraiser. Thanks were given to both Paul and Mike for their help - well done! Croudace has agreed to sponsor the 2012 event. Most South East events are chargeable, but we ran a joint free event this year with the London region.

Graham was thanked for his help at the beginning and Ash for his ongoing help and support. The whole committee were praised for being hard working and 'great' people. It is good for continuity that many members stay on, but it's also always good to get new members.

The South East region had responded to the governance review to retain positive practice in the South East. The Chair will be remaining to complete a second year term.

Chair's charity:The Chair is supporting two charities. One is the Southern African Housing Foundation Development Trust, related to Chris Moquet's ongoing work. The Trust helps to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people and provide education and training, or help in setting up their own business. The Chair is a trustee of the second charity, Foyer Limited, based on the Isle of Wight and run by Spectrum Housing Association.
